Dear Minnesota Gun Rights Supporter,
I have good news and bad news.
Your immediate action is needed to make the good news better and the
bad news go away.
First, the good news.
Representative Boudreau has introduced H.F. 1360, The Citizen's
Personal Protection Act. If H.F. 1360 passes, Minnesota will join
in the national effort to assert the right to carry as a deterrent
to criminal violence.
The Citizen's Personal Protection Act is only a few steps away from
true Right to Carry, as currently enjoyed in the state of Vermont,
where no license is required to exercise your constitutional Right
to Keep and Bear Arms.
Now, the bad news... and then the real bad news.
Included in H.F. 1360 is a requirement commanding every concealed
carry permit holder to undergo government-mandated training programs
every 3 years.
Government bureaucrats will be able to force concealed carry
applicants to spend their time in classes designed to weed out "less
desirable" gun owners -- such as young women and the elderly. At
once every three years, this training can also add unnecessary
financial burdens many poor people cannot afford.
On a larger scale, government-mandated training is just another tool
bureaucrats can use to change your Second Amendment right into a
government-sanctioned privilege.
Please contact your representative immediately and ask for an
amendment to delete government-mandated training from H.F. 1360 and
keep the Second Amendment a right and not a privilege.
And now for the really bad news.
According to sources in the House, pro-gun compromisers have begun
to negotiate with the anti-gun lobby to add an amendment to
H.F. 1360, requiring fingerprinting of all permit applicants.
Like common criminals, you and other concealed carry applicants
would be fingerprinted and records of your personal information
stored away for later use.
According to our sources, this compromising amendment could be
introduced at any time. That is why I must ask you to call your
representative immediately and tell him or her that you oppose
fingerprinting and any other anti-gun amendment.
Your immediate action is needed to pass a truly pro-gun version of
the Citizen's Personal Protection Act.
That's why I need you to do the following right away:
* Check the attached roster for your representative's office phone
number and e-mail address.
* Tell your Representative that you want him or her to oppose any
government-mandated training program that will pervert your right
into a government-sanctioned privilege.
* Urge your Representative to oppose any attempt at compromise or
negotiation -- especially, any attempt to amend H.F. 1360 to
include fingerprinting. Explain to him or her that law-abiding
gun owners are not common criminals and should not be treated as
such.
And please spread the word. A lot of folks won't get this letter
since they don't have fax or e-mail. Please pass this alert to
pro-gun family and friends and urge them to act at once.
Let the politicians in Minneapolis know you are watching and waiting
for them to stand up for true concealed carry reform.
Don't delay. Your right of self-defense hangs in the balance.

Dear Representative,
As a law-abiding gun owner in Minnesota, I urge you to amend the
Citizens Personal Protection Act (H.F. 1360) to delete any
government-mandated training provisions and to oppose fingerprinting
as well as any other anti-gun amendment meant to weaken this bill.
With your amendment, this pro-gun legislation would push our gun
laws in Minnesota closer to the Constitutional intentions of our
Founding Fathers.
Please amend H.F. 1360, the Citizen's Personal Protection Act, to
exclude mandatory training at every opportunity and pass this bill
through the House.
Gun Owners of America will inform me of what happens to this
important pro-gun bill.
